Prof. R Freathy

Rob Freathy was educated at Colyton Grammar School, and the universities of Oxford and Exeter. After teaching in state and independent secondary schools, he embarked on a career in educational research and academic leadership and management. He is a Professor of Education within the University of Exeter’s Graduate School of Education, for which he served previously as Head of Department. He is currently the University’s Academic Dean for Students and Dean of the Faculty of Taught Programmes, with responsibility for the institutional educational strategy and the quality and standards of all undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes. He has published widely on his research interests of religious education, history of education, and curricular and pedagogical innovation, and has written textbooks for both teachers and pupils in primary and secondary schools. He is married to another Old Colytonian, Rachel, with whom he has two children.
