Student spends Easter at a Cambridge College

Ameera P in Year 11 took the opportunity to further her academic and scholarship skills at Robinson College, Cambridge.  Here she summarises what she has achieved: 

“During my Easter holiday, I was given the opportunity to attend the three-day Women in Science Festival at Robinson College, Cambridge. At the festival, I was fortunate enough to attend scientific talks on subjects including new and cutting-edge technologies – for example research into the causes of Alzheimer’s disease; public health; and the use of AI in chemical toxicology. Other activities included practical activities such as an opportunity to program using quantum computing and a tour of the college. The festival culminated with a poster competition where we had the opportunity to present our prior research to the rest of the group. My poster explored the possibility of nanoparticle use in medicine, specifically on depleting cancer cells of essential elements without damaging nearby healthy cells in the way current treatments such as chemotherapy inflict. I was presented with a Best Discussion certificate for my exposition. The festival gave attendees the opportunity to hear about the latest technologies and research from the practitioners.”
