Cerys W, Zac C and Sophie M participated in the second round of the ESU Mace recently at the Thomas Hardye School in Dorchester. They acted as opposition for the motion "This House would not allow countries with poor human rights records to host sporting tournaments". Not only were the students praised for their excellent performance during the debate, they also received special comment for the thoughtfulness of their questions as audience members in the other debates. Their victory in this round is testament to the research and preparation the team completed since the beginning of December. They were honest with their performance, recognising their strengths and weakness, and they are excited by the challenge of the next round, the regionals, the penultimate round of the competition. A fantastic achievement – well done!

In addition, we also had two Year 12 teams take part in the Cambridge Schools Competition. Thank you to Mr Hawkes for his excellent leadership and expertise.
