As part of our careers support we started the year off with an inspiring PSHE talk to Year 11 from alumna Claire Duthuit (OC2003). Claire shared with us her journey from studying Anthropology at the University of Cambridge, to focusing her energies on gaining a position at the UN. To get there she used her communications skills and filled in gaps in her experience. She has headed up communications at the UN for a decade, running projects across the globe. She shared some great lessons such as lean in to what you love, fill in the gaps and pivot when you need to. She advised students who asked "when you felt unsure about your next move, how did you move forward?" by replying: "use your networks, seek a mentor or support such as the alumni network here at Colyton Grammar School." Claire also kindly donated two books to the school.

A truly inspiring talk to start the year.
