The Engineering Club has been the recipient of generous sponsorship by local firm Alexander Paul Kitchens, for the club’s project to restore a stationary engine.

Matthew Yates of the Fenny Bridges-based kitchen design and instalment firm has donated a large quantity of solid oak timber to the school for the construction of the engine’s ‘wheeled trolley mount’.

Students are being led by Design and Technology teacher Mr Froud, Technician Mr Taylor and Year 12 student Fraser A, with the aim of completing the restoration project by the end of the summer term. The finished project will then be displayed at a series of local agricultural shows during the year.

Fraser said: “Engineering Club has offered a great platform for students to explore real-life problems relating to their engineering interests.”

He highlighted how, “the financial support through sponsorships has had a really positive impact in allowing students to tackle complex projects that would rarely be seen outside of lessons.”

The Engineering Club has also received sponsorship from Axminster Power Tools, who have provided equipment and expertise to aid students in their project.
