PA GARDEN AND FOOD FESTIVAL 2018
This year's Garden and Food Festival on Saturday 12 May, raised over £6,500 for the Parents’ Association funds.
Always one of the most anticipated and successful of school fundraising days, the festival has been running since 2003, selling a great variety of plants, artisan food and local crafts.
With help from students and staff, Take 5 - the school restaurant - was transformed into the Flowerpot Café, selling refreshments and a range of homemade cakes and biscuits.
Entertainment was provided by the Seaton Majorettes, as well as a number of live music performances by Colyton students.
Ben S, a year 12 student who helped run the day, said: “I was really pleased with the turnout, I’d encourage anyone to get involved next year.”

Here is a further report from Carolyn Blanshard, Chair of the Parents' Associaton:
We were blessed with dry and mild weather for the annual Garden and Food Festival - perfect weather for browsing outdoor stalls and enjoying a glass of Prosecco or an ice cream.
A record 1400 visitors made the most of the day and came to enjoy the plant, craft and food stalls which were beautifully decorated around the school grounds and in Cottrill Hall. Younger visitors enjoyed the crafts activities and the 'Hands on Science' team, who helped children make their own rockets which were then launched on the astroturf. The Seaton Majorettes put on a fine display in the afternoon and guests were entertained by very talented buskers inside and out. Our visitors to this popular public event enjoyed tasting an array of fresh food from Thai street food to Afro-Caribbean dishes, wraps, crepes, cakes and of course the wonderful PA BBQ which also did a record trade this year!
Thank you to EVERYONE, staff, parents and students who helped to make the festival such a happy and successful event. Thanks especially to the school site staff who opened up the school grounds so early and the parents who manned the various stalls and made sure that the approach to the school and the car park were safe. Thank you for your generous donations of cakes, raffle and tombola prizes, preserves, books, plants and to everyone who gave up all or part of their Saturday to ensure that the day was such a triumph. We have raised over £6500 which will be put towards special funding requests from the school to buy much needed items to benefit all students.
My thanks to all on the PA committee for their contributions, but especially to Sharon, Frances and Alexis who put in many, many hours behind the scenes to organise the event and made it look easy in the process! The success of the day was down to a lot of excellent team work between parents and the school, coming together for the benefit of the students - something we can all be very proud of!
