Mass in Blue Postponed
It is with great regret that we have made the decision to postpone the ‘Mass in Blue’ Choral concert due to take place on Saturday 21st March in Exeter Cathedral. The annual choral concert is always one of the highlights of the school year and so the decision has not been taken lightly, but with some 160 singers involved and a further 400 in the audience we feel that such a large gathering would not be a wise undertaking in the current coronavirus delay phase.
Mr House is currently in discussion with the composer, soloist and other musicians to try to secure an alternative date in September as we want to give the Senior Choir the opportunity to perform after working so hard this year in preparation. Further information regarding this will follow when we are in a position to tell you more. Tickets already purchased for the concert will be valid for a future performance; refunds are available if you would prefer; please email firstname.lastname@example.org if this is your preferred option.
The information relayed in the recent communication regarding the school staying open remains. The advice is that in order for the delay phase measures to be effective students should not be kept home from school unless they have a new, continuous cough or a temperature in excess of 37.8 degrees centigrade which triggers a seven-day self-isolation period. This is because the Government’s medical and science advisors state that self-isolation cannot be maintained for sufficient time to be effective, given that they suggest this phase might be for as long as 14 – 16 weeks.
We recognise that this is a difficult and challenging time. We will continue to follow Government instruction and will keep you informed of developments via SIMS InTouch, including plans for other events, school trips and examinations.
