STUDENT WINS NATIONAL GEOGRAPHY PHOTO COMPETITION
Congratulations to Year 9 Geography student Aron A, for winning 1st Prize in the 11-14 age category of the Geographical Association's national competition 'Landscape Story' with his photograph of Pingvellir National Park, Iceland and his interpretation of the landscape.
This Physical Geography competition set the challenge of telling a landscape story via a photograph and an accompanying 250-word description outlining how physical geography created that landscape. The judges commented that Aron’s well composed and balanced photograph showed the variety of components that make up the landscape and Aron’s thoughtful entry very clearly fulfilled the competition theme and brief in telling the story of this Icelandic landscape from past to present.
The main aim of the competition was to provide an opportunity for students to engage with their surroundings and apply their knowledge of physical geography.
