OCS Projects

To strengthen the student experience we urgently need your support. Our Government funding, as with many other schools, has been decreasing year on year. We are now fundraising directly for departmental needs. This will enable our teachers to challenge students, maintain the school as an outstanding educational institution and ensure our students have what they need to reach their potential.

To discuss gifts to the school please contact alumni@colytongrammar.devon.sch.uk

“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.”  - Edgar Degas

The Art Department is a space for creativity to unfold and we need funds to support our creative students. The department is adapting to the new GCSE examination, which means artwork needs to be stored for up to two years. In order to do this we need to purchase the following:

  1. A large Drying Rack to reduce the risk of damage.
We are grateful to the Norman Family Charitable Trust and to the Devon Education Trust for gifts towards the drying rack. This is now completed.
  2. A new large Screen Print Press would be used to assist in building more skills into the new GCSE, and support the lunch time ‘Print Club’ run by Year 13 students. Cost £1,250

“Scientists believe in things, not in person” - Marie Curie

Walking in the Chemistry lab the shiny, transparent glassware hovers in clamps on the benches. Students aged 11-18 years, technicians and teachers all handle these fragile pieces of equipment and they get broken. This glassware is expensive and needs to be complete to be used in lessons. To build stocks up we need £300 to purchase more glassware.

“If we encounter a man of rare intellect, we should ask him what books he reads.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson

The library is a hub of activity at breaks and lunch times, with reading clubs and student librarians all assisting in making the library a great space to learn. The librarian has to work hard to source low cost books to fulfill the students' requests. Can you assist in making the ‘reading list’ wider for students? Target fund £200.
