Sixth Form Admissions September 2019
APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION TO THE SIXTH FORM - SEPTEMBER 2019 ENTRY
The Published Admission Number (PAN) for Year 12 in September 2019 is 30 (in addition to those students already in Year 11); this means we anticipate our total number of students for the year group being 155.
There is no entrance exam to join the Colyton Grammar School Sixth Form; all applicants need to complete an online application form which must be made directly to Colyton Grammar School.
The admissions process for routine admission into Year 12 in 2019/20 begins in November 2018. Applications must be made to Colyton Grammar School and NOT to the Local Authority. The online application process will be made available from November 2018 and parents/students should expect to receive an acknowledgement of their application.
DEADLINE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS
The closing date for applications is 31 January 2019.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS INTO THE SIXTH FORM
The minimum entry requirements are the same for both internal and external applicants. Applicants are required to achieve a minimum of 50 points from the best eight GCSEs (or equivalent), including at least grade 5 at GCSE in English and Maths or a Department for Education (DfE) recognised equivalency. Two exceptions to this are that grade 7 is required for studying Mathematics and grade 8 for Further Mathematics; and for a student who wishes to study Chemistry, Biology or Physics they will require grade 7 in the relevant subject if they have studied a single science GCSE or grade 7 in both Science and Additional Science. For all other subjects, it is expected that students will achieve a minimum of a grade 6 in the subjects they have chosen for A-Level.
Grade: 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 Points: 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1
In any old style legacy grade GCSE subjects A* to G: A* = 8.5, A = 7, B = 5.5, C = 4
No more than three Science GCSEs, one Mathematics GCSE and one PE GCSE may count in the best eight subjects.
