Our Colyton Grammar School staff cricket team, this term, were able to reset some of the elder members of the team due to the excellent additions to the school over the past year.

The parents team played with great determination to win the trophy, and this is very often a close game. Colyton Grammar School were put into bat first and began very well indeed with each opening batsman retiring not out on 30. Our batters scored at an impressive rate, hitting plenty of 4s and 6s.

Mr Pritchard (ECB Qualified coach) was very sportsmanlike, retiring after 12 runs so that others could bat and then offering himself to field for the opposing team. In an even more sporting manner, he then dismissed Mr Wakeling a few balls after. After a strong start, Colyton Grammar School then preceded into a slow middle with the Parents team seizing back the initiative, taking several quick wickets. However, the Colyton Grammar School innings score was given a tremendous boost with Mr Gosling hitting three huge 6s in a row and going on to score an impressive 30 not out.

Mr Gordon, in his debut game for the staff, took two wickets in his first two balls plus retiring on 30 not out in the batting department. To complete a near perfect performance Mr Gordon took a magnificent catch in the field. An excellent performance from him. Mr Radcliffe, Ms Thorpe, Mr Smith and Mr Rowe (PE) all bowled with control ensuring that the school team brought the cup home for another year.

Congratulations to everyone that took part and a special thanks to the parents for their support. We look forward to next year.

Final score – Colyton Grammar School staff 157 vs Colyton Grammar School parents 110.
