What's Your Colyton Story?
"I have so many memories of amazing school trips, productions and events. However, one memory that will stay with me forever, and will always serve as a reminder of the importance of what we do, involves a toy elephant.
When I was a pastoral leader, one student was going through a horrendous time, with really challenging home circumstances. For a while she was living in a women's refuge, and unfortunately ended up in hospital.
I went to visit her, and bought her a toy elephant from the hospital shop. I was embarrassed, as it seemed very childish, but there was little choice. Years later, I bumped into the student, who had gone on to do fantastically well, and she shared that she still had that elephant.
We have the privilege of being able to have an impact on the most amazing young people, and whilst many stories will of course be about the joy and laughter of school life, I think it is important to also remember the quieter moments which will resonate with individuals." - Mrs Harvey, Deputy Head - (Scholarship), Director of Admissions; Teacher of English
