What's Your Colyton Story?
"My Colyton journey has been strongly shaped by my passion for performing arts. One of my biggest achievements to date was being selected to be in a National Youth Music Theatre production of a new musical: Everyday, performed in the Birmingham Hippodrome. Being part of NYMT gave me the opportunity to work alongside many extremely talented young performers and industry pros in a demanding professional-style environment.
Alongside this, school has provided me with plenty of opportunities to take part in performing arts and to develop my skills as a performer. Just in the last year, I have performed in the school cabaret and have been involved in both the Senior Choir and Chamber Choir.
For my EPQ, Colyton provided me with the necessary tools and allowed me to take on the challenge of directing, producing and choreographing Into the Woods Jr as a fully student run production.
Recently I was involved in the Sixth Form production: The Importance of Being Earnest, as a cast member, co-choreographer and co-ensemble director.
Another exciting opportunity Colyton has given me is the chance to perform as part of a band for the first time. I loved the experience of the Sixth Form Unplugged event and later performing at the Phoenix in Exeter alongside other bands to a full audience.
It is safe to say that for a student like myself, who will jump at any chance to perform and take part in creating theatre, Colyton provides plentiful opportunities to do so."
