News - Oct 7

Week two of the Colyton Basketball Association, commonly referred to as the ‘CBA’, got under way in style, with three matches that were jam-packed with thrills and spills.

The competition is run by Year 13 students, Kishan P and Daniel A, whilst matches are officiated by Mr Robinson. Ten teams of Sixth form students are split into two groups and matches are played during Wednesday lunch times, and once the teams have played all the others in their group, the top two teams move into semi-finals and then the final, to decide the ultimate CBA champion

In week two the results were as follows:

Tom B’s Team – Tony’s Team : 2-0

Arun’s Team – Cleo’s Team : 4-0

Archie’s Team – Bobby’s Team : 5-0

And whilst the standard of play is not quite at NBA level yet, many spectacular moments have been seen on the court this year. For example Nathan N’s shock deep three pointer swish and Jimmy S for his long range three-point shot.

I spoke to devoted CBA participant, Oli J, to learn his thoughts on the CBA.

“Playing in the CBA drastically lifts my mood and improves my day. My favourite parts of the CBA are how welcoming it is and the impressive skills on show”
