This year, 45 Year 8 students have entered the Jurassic Coast Challenge, which takes place at the end of June. Recently they have taken part in their first training session for this event, covering the extremely hilly stretch between Seaton and the Donkey Sanctuary.

Under the leadership of Mrs Byron, the students and colleagues greatly enjoyed the walk in the hazy sunshine, both earning a wave from the pilot of a low flying Chinook and an ice cream in Branscombe. This session was all about establishing their teams so that they can collectively decide their most appropriate Jurassic Coast Challenge length – Bronze, Silver or Gold.

It is lovely to see the students making the most of the beautiful countryside in which we are fortunate enough to live and events such as the Jurassic Coast Challenge will provide them with a love of the outdoors and walking skills that they can choose to develop with DofE or Ten Tors in the years to come.
