Life at Colyton Grammar

I have been a student at Colyton since year 7. Further down in the school I witnessed a lot of change, with Mr Evans being my first headteacher and assemblies being held in the sports hall due to construction being carried out on the Cottrill Hall. Events which stand out to me from the lower school are the trips we went on, such as the year 7 residential and the water-sports trip in 2017. I enjoyed the transition to the sixth form, which granted a greater amount of independence to us as we became older. While learning in lockdown was challenging, I believe that everyone returned to school with a new-found gratitude for education, both in general and specifically at Colyton.

The work experience programme at Colyton has been exceptional, and I have been privileged to have experienced work placements which others in different schools or even higher education would struggle to achieve.  I have found that throughout my time here, Colyton has always maintained links with the world outside of school, reminding us that learning and our education are not simply for exams but preparation for the rest of our lives in the wider world. I believe that Colyton students are therefore in a prime position for whatever will be experienced after our school lives have ended.
