Year 9 students have been involved in a careers partnership event with global tech firm, Honeywell. The students heard from a variety of Honeywell staff members who promoted the message that not everyone in big tech firms needs to be an engineer, and that all sorts of qualities and motivations are necessary in a modern workforce. Students were able to question our partners on matters that are important to them, such as evolving working practices in modern blue-chip organisations, the sustainability agenda and promoting women in engineering and tech roles.

This is the second year we have been able to run our Honeywell partnership event. Last year we were able to use our digital technology to link up Honeywell staff with 10 classes that were separated at the time (due to Covid measures) as well as students who were at home self-isolating.

This year we worked with Richard Webb (Operations Manager for Europe, Middle East & Africa) to develop a creative team challenge for students to work through, involving novel uses for the firm’s ‘wearable technology’.

We would like to congratulate Rosalia A-E,  Mia F,  Megan S , Phoebe S & Emma Y  (from Ash House) for winning the Honeywell Trophy, with their idea for using the technology to provide aid to people in conflict zones and in the aftermath of natural disasters. We would also like to thank Richard for providing the trophy on behalf of Honeywell.
