Colyton Student turns down championship in support of the planet

Year 12 student Innes FitzGerald has made the decision to turn down the opportunity to compete in the World Cross Country Championships in support of the planet.

Due to the competition being held in Australia, she would have had to fly thousands of miles and felt that in the current climate crisis, she simply couldn’t justify this stating ‘I had to make a move. I had to do something just to make sure people were aware of the problem’ in an interview with BBC Newsbeat.
