Colyton Grammar School athletes shine at East Devon Trials

Athletes from Colyton Grammar School delivered a series of outstanding performances at the East Devon Trials held at Exeter Arena, showcasing talent, determination and school spirit across a variety of track and field events. This meet featured numerous victories for our students and even two new records.  

A standout moment came from Martin F, who stormed to victory in the 1500, setting a new record in the process, an extraordinary achievement that highlights his exceptional talent and training. His training partner, Oscar P, took a commanding win in the 3000m, also claiming a new record. Other impressive performances over the longer distances included:  

3000m: Sofia L 1st  

1500m: Ben P 1st  

1500m: Jacob A 2nd  

1500m: Robin D 2nd  

1500m: Eliza T 2nd  

The Year 7 Girls sprinting events were dominated by Ellie G, who achieved a remarkable double victory in both the 100m and 200m. Niamh C claimed 1st in the 100m, and 2nd in the 200m. On the boys side, Hunter H placed 2nd in the 100m and 1st in the 200m, closely followed by Alex S T, who secured a commendable 3rd place in the 100m. Marcus L finished in 3rd in the 200m.  

Middle distance events saw George H win the 800m, with Hugo W taking 3rd place in the Year 7 Boys race. In the Girls 800m, Ellie J and Georgia M placed 2nd and 3rd respectively, whilst Molly C finished 3rd in another strong 800m race. Elsa R delivered a stellar run to win the 300m and a 3rd place in the Long Jump. James K and Akein N came 2nd and 3rd in the Boys 300m.  

In the throwing events, Nonna M won the Shot Put and took 2nd in the Javelin, where Gaby RS came out on top. Katie H claimed first in the Shot, whilst Marcus L added a 2nd place finish in the same event. Luke B impressed with 1st place in Discus and 3rd in Javelin. George H came away with 3rd in Shot and 2nd in Discus behind Milo L, who took 1st. Issy M rounded out the throwing achievements with 3rd in Discus.  

Jump events were also a great success, with Freddie C and Carter S taking 1st and 2nd in the High Jump, whilst Emma P won the Girls High Jump. Casper S secured 3rd in the Boys High Jump event and in the Triple Jump Cameron D earned a solid 3rd place.  

Colyton Grammar School’s athletes not only accumulated numerous places in the next round against schools in the Exeter area, but also demonstrated depth across all disciplines – sprints, distance, throws and jumps. Their collective efforts reflect both individual talent and a strong team ethos, promising an exciting season ahead. The Exeter VS East Devon competition will happen next week, and we wish all of our athletes the best of luck competing for a place at the Devon Championships.
