Students enjoy French Exchange visit to Lyon

A group of Year 8, 9 and 10 students arrived home from Lyon last week after a week staying with their French Exchange families.
The students enjoyed trips with their French host families, as far away as the Loire and Jura as well as tours of the historic centre of Lyon and its Football stadium. For some, there were family barbecues and birthdays, and one student even went to a wedding during their stay. In the week, students explored the French school from the attic to the cellars (a beautiful building and chapel originally founded by Jesuit priests). They also attended lessons and the French teachers commented on how courteous and confident they were; wonderful ambassadors for Colyton Grammar School.
All of the students have been so resilient, getting involved with their host families’ lives and routines and learning and practicing new language. This adventure had started earlier in May as we welcomed the French partners here.
Exchanges bring huge educational and cultural benefits but are also hard work for both parents and students, and so a very big thank you to all the Colyton families who took part.
