Year 12 students here at Colyton Grammar School, over many months, have been applying themselves to the hardest questions on Isaac Physics and as a result have achieved some fantastic results in this national challenge.
Isaac Physics is an online Physics problem run by a team at the Natural Sciences Department at the University of Cambridge, funded by the Department of Education and Ogden Trust.
The following results were awarded to students:
Anais B – Ruby Award (top 300 out of approx. 1500 nationally)
Luke T – Sapphire Award (top 250 out of approx. 1500 nationally)
Adam J – Sapphire Award (top 250 out of approx. 1500 nationally)
Billy S, Benjamin K and Emma R were invited to sit an additional assessment as they had done so well in the Senior Physics Challenge, and all three were then awarded Diamond award certificates for being in the top 150 out of approx. 1500 nationally.
Finally, Daniel X did so well in the additional assessment that he scored in the top 50 nationally and has therefore been invited to a residential Summer School at the Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge.
Huge congratulations to everyone who took part and a special well done to Daniel who will be developing his knowledge of quantum mechanics with some of the finest minds in the country at one of the most respected universities in the world.
