Our School Poet Laureate, Year 8 student Nathanael H, has penned a poem to mark the end of the school year. Please see below:

Contemplate, Clutch, Continue

Another year shows your remarkable ways,

The rollercoaster highlighting special days,

Another series of competitive spirit,

From winning to ‘I can’t bear to hear it!’

Jump into the timeline of your newest page,

The new chapter written. The new stage.

To new Year 7s beginning secondary life,

Or people knowing exams will become rife,

Or, students looking to grasp free time,

Or anyone loving their hobby. Like my rhyme!

Did you past self predict this outcome?

Everyone should be proud of what’s done.

House events scattered about in the year,

Enhancing togetherness and happy cheer,

From the logic perspective to music beats,

To all hands on buzzers, to sporting feats.

Be proud of your community within school,

Not everyone has the gifts within you all.

Three and three quarters, boosting self-esteem,

By taking your head off the daily work scheme,

There’s a variety of hobbies to name aloud,

But there’s more good times screaming ‘I’m proud!’

Think about the chances hiding, waiting to show,

Use them to create your own Coly-portfolio.

Resting minds from school; can be the best,

With that and fun, sums Belonging Week’s success.

Just being you, and expressing that to friends,

Ensures the heart of them just never ends.

Bristol, to Aquatics, an up north music tour,

Sports, Devon, and many many more!

Now you’re at the end of yet another 38 weeks,

And you’ve experienced its troughs and peaks,

No matter where you go, keep Colyton’s cores,

They’re gifts, from the Coly-heart to yours.

Wherever you may go during this long time away,

Just chill, put your feet up and enjoy each day!

You’ll be back before you know it.
