GCSE success for Colyton Grammar School students

Students at Colyton Grammar School are today celebrating GCSE results which far outstrip the national average.
Across the country 67.4% of all grades were marked at grades 4 or above – for Colyton Grammar School this figure is 100% including English and Maths.

In all, 32% of grades achieved were the highest grade 9 and 79% of grades awarded were grades 9 to 7. Out of this year’s cohort 23 (15% of the year group) students gained eight or more grade 9s. The average grade for the whole GCSE group was grade 8.

The majority will go on to join the school’s Sixth Form and their success follows that of this year’s A Level students, 66% of whom achieved A* or As, more than twice the national average with 90% of confirmed places are at Sutton Trust Top 30 universities and 27 students securing places at Oxford and Cambridge.

Headteacher Tim Harris commented: “My congratulations go to this year’s cohort of GCSE students and to my colleagues who have guided them to phenomenal success. We are very proud of all of our students. All are in a position to embrace their next steps with great confidence, and I am sure that they will continue to flourish as they focus on their longer-term dreams. We look forward to welcoming the students to our Sixth Form next month.”
