Colyton faced Kings in the East Devon Senior Girls Hockey Tournament yesterday, with the two teams contesting a full 40‑minute match split into four quarters. The opening quarter was tightly fought, with Colyton pressing high but Kings countering well to keep the defence under pressure, ending 0‑0.
Kings had the upper hand in the second quarter, yet Colyton’s defence held firm to keep them out. After the break, Colyton took control in the third quarter, creating several chances but unable to convert. The final quarter saw both sides pushing hard for a breakthrough, and late in the game Colyton earned a penalty corner.
Captain Georgia produced a clever disguised pass to Ellie, who drilled home the decisive goal to secure a 1‑0 victory and crown Colyton as East Devon champions! It was a fitting finale for many of the Year 13 girls playing their last senior game, while Lilia was named Player of the Match for her outstanding defensive display and tireless effort throughout.
Congratulations girls.
