Carnegie Celebration Event

On Wednesday 17th June, nine of our keen Carnegie shadowers attended the Devon SLS Carnegie Celebration Event at St Peter's School, Exeter.

At the event, students gave a presentation on a book of their choice from the Carnegie shortlist (our shadowers chose The Boy I Love by William Hussey) and watched presentations given by the other nine schools in attendance. At the end, all students voted on the presentation that would most make them interested in reading the book, and our CGS students gained the most votes! A huge well done to the students who took part - Lily A-D, Nell H, Zoe J, Toria M, Annabelle B, Clara G, Claire T, Mylah V and Rowan G-F.

A particular thank you and well done goes to Lily, who wrote the entire script for the presentation. The students were also praised by author Luke Palmer who was at the event, and they had the opportunity to ask him questions about writing and his books. The winner of the Carnegie shortlist is announced next week and all of our shadowers are looking forward to hearing if their favourite has been selected.
