U13 Cricket v Sidmouth

Colyton’s U13s delivered a sharp, disciplined display to claim a confident win over Sidmouth at Seaton CC. Impressive bowling from the Colyton side kept the pressure on throughout, dismissing Sidmouth for just 76. Colyton then batted with calm control, knocking off the target inside 8.4 overs to seal a dominant victory and a great team performance overall.

U13 Cricket v Uffculme

The boys then put in a spirited display at Uffculme School, showing impressive bowling early on, but Uffculme’s strong batting pushed them to a competitive 106. The chase started brightly before a couple of early dismissals stalled momentum, and despite determination throughout the innings, Colyton couldn't reach the target, ending their innings on 89, falling just short. A tough end to the cup run, but the team played great cricket along the way and can be proud of their efforts.

Colyton delivered a commanding all-round performance to secure their place in the Devon Cup Final, defeating Queen Elizabeth by 47 runs in a well-contested semi-final.

Batting first, Colyton set the tone early with a dominant display at the crease, finishing on an imposing 156 for 1. The innings was built around two excellent contributions from Cameron D and George D, both of whom retired on 40 after reaching the competition’s retirement threshold.

The pair combined for a strong platform, showcasing composed stroke play and intelligent running between the wickets. Their partnership ensured Colyton maintained a steady scoring rate throughout, putting consistent pressure on the Queen Elizabeth bowling attack.

With the foundation firmly established, Colyton’s remaining batters added valuable runs in the closing overs, pushing the total to a highly competitive score with minimal loss.

In reply, Queen Elizabeth faced an uphill task against a disciplined Colyton bowling unit. Despite some resistance in the middle order, they were unable to build the large partnerships required to threaten the target.

The standout performer with the ball was Hugo W, who delivered a superb spell, claiming 4 wickets and breaking key partnerships at crucial moments. His accuracy and control proved decisive in keeping the opposition under pressure.

Colyton’s fielding effort complemented their bowling, with sharp work in the field ensuring Queen Elizabeth never gained sustained momentum.

Eventually, Queen Elizabeth were bowled out for 109, falling well short of the target.
