Heidi Thiemann

Having completed her PhD, researching a range of aspects of stellar variability in the SuperWASP all-sky survey with Professor Andrew Norton and Dr Ulrich Kolb, Heidi went on to observe and model near-contact red giant binary stars, the SuperWasp Variable Stars citizen science project, the rotation-actiivty relation and the threat that megaconstellations pose to ground-based astronomy. She spent time working at Truro & Penwith College, developing a suite of courses that provide graduates and non-graduate staff within the Cornish space sector with the education and training needed to support new and existing businesses linked to the space industry.

She is now the co-director of Space Skills Alliance, a think-tank and backbone organisation addressing the UK's space skills shortage. She helps the policy-making process by publishing reports that are both rigorous and accessible, providing expert advice to organisations looking to improve their skills pipelines. As a backbone organisation, Space Skills Alliance enables collaboration and aims to improve the way in which organisations in the space sector work to address skill challenges.
