Following their success at the South West Regional Finals of the F1 in schools competition, Colyton Grammar School’s team, Nebulon Racing, was invited to Birmingham to compete in the national finals held at Autosport International in January.
These finals are always an exciting event and this year was no exception with the six team members from Year 10 based at the Stratford-upon-Avon YHA from where they were able to launch their bid for pole position.
This was a great opportunity for the students to see what the best of the other regional winners in both development and professional classes had to offer in the way of innovative aerodynamics and CAD design, imaginative pit displays and dynamic presentations. At these events, big name sponsors such as Lenovo, Formula 1, Denford, IET and Autodesk, alongside various F1 teams look to recruit students directly from winning and participating teams.
At the closing awards ceremony, Nebulon Racing was delighted to be nominated for both ‘Best Pit Display’ in development class and the national ‘Scrutineering Award’.
To our delight, we have just had the overall results back and Nebulon Racing was placed fifth out of 19 teams in the development class, a fantastic result.
Huge congratulations to Emma R, Benjamin K, Daniel X, Tejas P, Martin F and Phillip P, well done.
