News - May 23

Colyton Grammar School students have recently enjoyed a number of successes in their maths studies.

Year 13 student Anthony G travelled to the coast of Antalya to spend a week as part of a team representing the UK in the Balkan Maths Olympiad where he rose to the challenge. He achieved enough points to earn a bronze medal and was the second highest scoring member of the UK team. A wonderful achievement.

Closer to home, the results of the UKMT Junior Mathematics Challenge have come in and this year, our students have excelled themselves. Almost 85% of the Year 7 and 8 students who took part have achieved at least a bronze certificate. Overall, there were 88 bronze, 115 silver and 57 gold certificates awarded. Thirty-six students will now take part in the kangaroo follow on round.

Special mentions must go to Javier C for achieving the highest score in Year 7 and to Annabelle M for the highest score in Year 8. Annabelle will also be taking part in the Olympiad follow on round.
