News - Dec 5

Recently, several students took part in the English Public Speaking competition over Zoom. They did fantastically, and we are very proud of their efforts, especially given that the teams underwent many changes and some of the students did the competition on very short notice due to illness and logistical issues. They showed great commitment and camaraderie, staying in school until 6pm.

Whilst we don’t know the results of the competition as the students had to leave before the 7pm finish, this was a great experience for them and a first-time taking part in such a competition. It really put them on the spot in terms of thinking on their feet and being confident.

Saanvi V and Betty W, both 10 Oak, took on the roles of Chairmen, with Betty joining the team with just a day’s notice. Oscar P, 10 Oak, and Erica G, 10 Elm were the team’s questioners, with Erica taking on the role at less than a day’s notice. The role of speaker requires a lot of preparation and being put on the spot with questions afterwards. Daniel T, 10 Oak, came on board with only about a week or so to go, and Luke T, 11 Beech, completed the competition in the midst of his mock exams.

A big thank you and well done to everyone who took part.
