Kelly L, Paul K, Noah W, Jack F, Evelyn D and Sacha G competed in the Cambridge Schools Debating competition, taking part in four rounds of fierce debate on challenging motions such as ‘This House supports civil resistance as a political tactic in liberal democracies’.
The three teams were placed 6th, 9th and 18th out of 28 teams, an impressive result considering that this was the first time that they have competed in a British Parliamentary style debate. Mr Wakeling and Mr Hawkes were impressed with the rigour of their debates and the students’ willingness to accept feedback.
This experience will no doubt prove invaluable in future competitions, such as the ESU Mace Regional Final.
