Anna G and David I, both in Year 8, were recently invited to attend the finals of Imperial College London’s ‘Science and Innovation Competition’.
For this competition, teams are asked to focus on one or more of the 17 UN Goals to identify a problem associated with this/these, and to come up with a new and innovative scientific solution in response to this. Anna and David designed a ‘Resilient Adaptive Fabric for Tents (RAFT)’. Their adaptable and innovative shelter aimed at improving living conditions and wellbeing for war refugees and asylum seekers.
They travelled to London to present their solution to a panel of esteemed judges within the field of science, and during this process they were questioned and challenged on their idea. Schools from all over the country and internationally take part, and this is a fantastic achievement. Anna and David should be very proud of this.
