News - May 13

Our school production of ‘The Sound of Music’ was a simply brilliant evening with every acting performance a delight and the singing was worthy of an Olivier Award. Hearing the familiar soundtrack sung so beautifully by students of this school made us so proud.

This harmonious and brilliant performance did not just happen, but it has been the consequence of months of hard work. Indeed, there have been hard times, times of nervousness, times of frustration and times when a successful performance may have seemed unlikely, but importantly students and colleagues persevered and worked together to produce something so brilliant. What has been particularly joyful has been the sense of happiness and belonging that being part of this experience has brought to the students. Whether leading roles, chorus parts, stagehands, musicians, costume designers of front of house, the obvious joy that belonging to something so wonderful has brought to the students has been so tangible, and we hope that this feeling of wanting to participate will remain with them throughout their lives.

Our immense gratitude goes to Mrs Rees, director, Mrs Brownley, assistant director, and Mr Brimelow, musical director, who have given so much of their time to provide this amazing opportunity, which we are sure that the students will never forget. All of the students deserve so much applause for their commitment, and their talents.

We would like to add a particular thank you to Year 13 student Ryan M, whose technical brilliance has served the school community so many times, and culminated in his final role for the school as stage and technical manager. Thank you Ryan.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this highlight in the school calendar.
