On a glorious sunny day, the Under 15 East Devon cricket competition took place at Whimple Cricket Club.
The competition began with a strong showing from Colyton A, who set the tone for the day with an impressive all-round performance against Kings. Batting first, Colyton A posted a commanding total thanks to confident stroke play and positive intent. Their bowlers then backed up the effort with disciplined lines and sharp fielding, restricting Kings effectively and securing a convincing win.
A tightly contested fixture between the two Colyton teams followed, with Colyton B fighting hard and showing great resilience. Colyton A kept their composure under pressure. Some key contributions with bat and ball saw the A team edge out their counterparts, maintaining their unbeaten run and setting up a final showdown for the title.
With two teams eyeing the title, the final game had everything to play for. Colyton A delivered a clinical bowling display, restricting Cullompton to just 48 runs. Their chase was swift and assertive, as they reached the target in just 6 overs, sealing the match and the tournament in style. Whilst no official Player of the Match was named, the day belonged to all the players, each of whom contributed with energy, sportsmanship, and skill. It was a fantastic celebration of girl’s cricket in East Devon.
We now look forward to the Devon round with excitement, as we are confident in the strength and spirit of this talented group.
