On Tuesday, 46 enthusiastic students from Colyton Grammar School travelled to Okehampton to take part in the much-anticipated Neon Run School Games event, held in the scenic surroundings of Simmonds Park, Okehampton.
The event offered girls from across the county the choice of a 5k or 2.5k run, providing an inclusive and exciting challenge for all fitness levels. Colyton students had engaged in ‘classroom 2 5k’ type training sessions in preparation for the event. Before setting off on the course, participants embraced the spirit of the day by decorating T-shirts with bright, bold, and neon designs—adding colour and creativity to an already energetic atmosphere.
After completing their runs, students enjoyed a variety of engaging activities designed to promote fun, movement, and team spirit. From team challenges to cricket and archery, there was something for everyone to enjoy. The day ended on a lively note with a mass Zumba session, where students, teachers, and volunteers danced together in celebration of an action-packed afternoon. To cool down, everyone was treated to a well-earned ice lolly, the perfect end to a fantastic day.
