Our Under 15 team travelled to Stover for their first Hardball Cricket match of the year, playing in a pairs format, with teams starting on 200 runs and losing 5 runs for every wicket.
The Colyton team opened the batting with intent and confidence, demonstrating strong shot selection and excellent communication between the wickets. The team scored freely throughout the innings, with multiple boundaries on offer. Standout performances came from Lilia and Ellie, both showing superb composure at the crease. Importantly, Colyton managed to protect their wickets well, losing just two across the innings, an impressive feat in the pairs format. They closed their innings on a commanding 291-2 score, laying down a strong challenge for the hosts.
Colyton carried their momentum into the field with a sharp, high-energy performance. The bowlers and fielders worked well together, taking an impressive 14 wickets throughout the innings. The wickets were well distributed across the teams with Ellie, Beattie, Lottie, Katie H, Mattie, Izzy and Seren all contributing.
Stover ended their innings on 211-14, giving Colyton a comprehensive 80 run victory. Players of the match went to Ellie and Izzy.
