Recently, our Colyton Grammar School teams have played in various Cricket matches.

Colyton Grammar School’s U13 Mixed Cricket Team delivered an excellent performance at the Devon Finals Day for Mixed Softball Pairs Cricket. The event, contested in a round-robin league format, featured strong competition from across the county, with teams from Great Torrington School, Exmouth Community College, South Dartmoor Community College, St. Peter’s C of E school, Millbay Academy, and Churston Grammar School.

Colyton played six matches throughout the day, winning four and narrowly losing two, which earned them an impressive 2nd place overall, a fantastic achievement in a highly competitive field.

The team showed great composure, teamwork, and skill across all aspects of the game. Special mention goes to Lochan, who led the team with maturity and focus, demonstrating excellent captaincy throughout the tournament.

In the field, Reed, Laurence, and Eden stood out with some sharp catches, quick reactions, and consistent pressure on the opposition. Adam and Ludo showcased powerful and intelligent batting, contributing key runs at crucial stages. Meanwhile, Luke and Amelie bowled with precision, helping to restrict opponents effectively. The team can be extremely proud of their performances, both in terms of results and sporting spirit. Finishing runners-up in a county final is a testament to their effort, preparation, and teamwork.

Congratulations to all involved!

The U15 Girls County Cricket Finals proved to be a fiercely contested affair as Colyton took to the field in a round robin tournament featuring strong sides from Torquay Girls, St Peters, Millbay, Ivybridge, and Cullompton. With each team playing five matches, it was a true test of consistency and composure.

Colyton impressed from the outset, displaying sharp bowling, disciplined fielding, and confident batting across their games. They secured commanding wins in four of their five matches, showing depth in the squad and strong teamwork. The only loss came in a closely fought battle, which would later prove decisive.

With Torquay Girls and St Peters also finishing with four wins apiece, the final standings were decided by the narrowest of margins—runs scored across the tournament. Colyton finished third overall, just a handful of runs shy of the top spot, despite matching them in victories. The players can hold their heads high after a tournament full of standout performances and remarkable team spirit. Their consistency placed them firmly among the best sides in the county, and the slim margin separating them from the title speaks volumes of their effort and quality. A fantastic tournament and a performance to be proud of for Colyton U15 Girls.

The U13 Girls County Cricket Tournament saw Colyton deliver a series of powerful and polished performances, ultimately finishing 3rd overall in a highly competitive field. From dominant wins in the group stages to a nail-biting semi-final, the girls showed resilience, skill, and teamwork throughout.

Colyton kicked off their campaign with a commanding display against Millbay. Battingfirst, they posted a confident 99, thanks to some sharp running between the wickets and clean striking. With the ball, the team was just as impressive—disciplined bowling and tight fielding saw Millbay restricted to just 46, giving Colyton a 53-run win.

Their second group game, against Eggbuckland, was nothing short of spectacular. Colyton unleashed their full potential with the bat, piling on a mammoth 156 runs. The bowlers then backed it up in style, taking 9 wickets and limiting Eggbuckland to just 32, resulting in a 124-run victory

With two dominant wins, Colyton topped their group and advanced to the semi-finals to face Torquay Girls, the runners-up from the other pool. The semi-final was a tense, high-quality affair. Colyton batted first and put on a strong total of 76, with the top order showing calm under pressure. However, a few decisions didn’t go their way, and in a game where every run counted, those moments made the difference. Torquay edged past the total, reaching 80 in the final overs to claim a narrow win and progress to the finals. Despite the disappointment, Colyton's performance in the semi-final was full of heart and character.

Colyton finished third overall—a fantastic achievement and a clear sign of the squad's  growing strength. A brilliant tournament from start to finish, and a team full of promise for the future.
